Debra Lam

Debra’s experiences sit at the intersection of human systems and systems thinking, community building and the social sector. Her current work spans across the social, government and private sectors. She is presently the general manager and organisational development (OD) practitioner at And Pte Ltd, a consultancy firm that supports organisations to build greater systems health, innovation and resilience. Debra is also the programme manager at St Andrew’s Autism Centre, designing innovative post-18s pilot programmes for persons with moderate to severe autism to lead more dignified and meaningful lives.

Previously, Debra spent over 10 years in the community building and social sector, fuelled by an ambition to create a more inclusive society for Persons with Disabilities. Her journey began running a ground-up competitive Deaf dragon boat team in 2011, before co-founding Society Staples in 2015, a social enterprise that designs various methodologies and platforms to engage disability. In between, Debra also set up a non-profit dedicated to running community projects for various marginalised communities.

In her one-year stint at Common Ground Civic Center, Debra was the lead for community development, working on projects across the public and people sectors to address pressing national or societal issues. These projects range from improving mental wellness at the workplace to mobilising the community for better health outcomes.

On the side, Debra co-developed Diversity by Default, a diversity-based expansion pack of Smol Tok to elicit meaningful conversations. She is also the 2021-2023 Singapore national youth delegate to the Commonwealth Youth Council and a Philip Yeo Initiative Fellow and Steering Committee member.
